Why we started Pilae.

Open source is the best software you can run, and almost nobody wants to operate it. Pilae deploys open-source apps on our cloud or on your own machines, then keeps them updated, backed up and online.

Pilae SA was founded in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2026 by two EPFL engineers. It is bootstrapped and still just the two of us.

Paul Madelénat

Co-founder & CEO

EPFL MSc in Data Science. Previously systems engineer at Stacksync (YC W24) and at the ICRC. His master's thesis on trustworthy infrastructure agents is the groundwork for the Pilae control plane.
